Dr. Atef S. Zakhary is a respected OB-GYN specialist in the Tampa Bay area, providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care with a focus on high-risk pregnancies and robot-assisted gynecologic surgery. He is recognized for strong clinical expertise and commitment to patient-centered care.
Dr. Zakhary earned his medical degree from Cairo University, Egypt. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Jersey Shore University in New Jersey, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. He later completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, an affiliate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New Jersey.
Dr. Zakhary is board-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Internal Medicine. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, contributing to medical education and clinical training.
After relocating to Tampa, Florida, Dr. Zakhary established his private practice at Omni Medical Center for Women. He specializes in high-risk pregnancy management and advanced gynecologic procedures. In 2004, he performed his first robot-assisted surgery using the DaVinci system, becoming one of the early pioneers of robotic surgery in Florida.
Dr. Zakhary is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American College of Physicians, American
Medical Association, American Board of Medical Specialties, and the Egyptian Medical Association. He has also served on the Surgical Review Committee at Town and Country Hospital in Tampa.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Zakhary spends time with his family and enjoys track racing and competitive bridge.
